August & September are a wonderful time to visit as you’ll enjoy moderate & comfortable temperatures at higher elevations.

An exclusive Copper Canyon Adventures Itinerary
Day 1 (Wednesday): Arrival – El Fuerte
You will be met at the airport in Los Mochis by a representative of CCA and driven to colonial El Fuerte, about 1 1⁄2 hours away.
There you will settle in at the Hotel El Fuerte, a lovely hotel very close to the central plaza. Welcome!
Enjoy your evening around the central plaza of the historic & colonial town of EL Fuerte - dinner on your own.

Chihuahua al Pacifico Chepe Express Train
Day 2 (Thursday): The world-famous Chihuahua al Pacifico Express train – Divisadero and Areponapuchic
Today you will take the unforgettable Chihuahua al Pacifico (CHEPE) First-Class Express train to the Divisadero station, featuring the most spectacular portion of the train ride, including the dramatic Septentrion Gorge and the three-level loops at Temoris.
As you cross 37 bridges and pass through 86 tunnels in dramatic mountain scenery, you will see for yourself why CHEPE has been named one of the top rail journeys in the world.
(The new Touri-class Express includes access to the Glass Window Terrace Car & the Urike dome car. Passengers are no longer allowed to stand in vestibules between cars for photography. Please contact us if you would prefer your Tourist-class service to either Executive Class Tickets - these tickets are approx. $100 - to - $150 less per person
Meals or drinks are cash or credit card only on the train.
On arrival, about 4:15PM transfer to the Hotel Mansion Tarahumara, right on the canyon rim for great walks and exploration.

Day 3 (Friday): Three Canyons and Copper Canyon Adventure park excursion - Afternoon Free on the Rim - Guided Hikes Available
You will enjoy a vehicle excursion to the Copper Canyon Adventure Park and great vistas of three canyons-Urique, Copper and Tararecua-from overlooks at "Piedra Volada" (Flying Rock), with its spectacular overlook and moving stone, and Divisadero, an amazing overlook, the halfway point of the Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad, and home to an open-air Raramuri Indian artisan's market.
Along the way, visit the Copper Canyon Adventure Park, where you can take an impressive aerial tram over the canyon, experience one of the longest and most thrilling zip lines in the world, the fastest “Zip-Rider” and/or a unique vertical obstacle course known as the "Via Ferrata" (Iron Way). Each of these features of the park are at additional expense. (the park accepts credit cards).

Gondola Ride Above and Over the Canyons
You will have all afternoon for exploring. There are a variety of hikes or horseback rides available, if you wish (at additional cost), or perhaps simply relaxing and enjoying the view would be your preference. You can also arrange to stay longer at the Adventure Park, inquire with the front desk before departure or plan on walking back from the park (about two miles).

The 'Three Canyons" area, where three major canyons intersect
Day 4 (Saturday): Private vehicle to Cerocahui - Hotel San Isidro Lodge
After breakfast you will board your private vehicle for the two and a half hour transfer to Bahuichivo and the Hotel San Isidro Lodge, a unique local family owned accommodations, located in a picturesque side canyon.
On the way to your hotel, you will visit the historic church at Cerocahui, considered by many the prettiest church in the Sierra.
Construction of the gold-domed church at Cerocahui began shortly after the arrival of the Jesuits in 1679, but after the Spanish King expelled the order in 1767, the church fell into disrepair and ruin. It was not until 1939 that rebuilding of the church began, and it now is one of the most dramatic churches in the Copper Canyon region. The stained glass there is particularly interesting, as it has an unusual Asian connection that your guide will explain to you.
Lunch at the Lodge
After settling in at the hotel, there will be time for a short hike in the afternoon, to help you get to know the local area.
Close by is a one-room Raramuri schoolhouse you can visit and drop off any school supplies you may have brought with you (not required, totally up to you).
A Temazcal, or sweat lodge, is a traditional indigenous ceremony used for spiritual and physical cleansing, is offered at San Isidro Lodge.
After lunch at the lodge, enjoy an excursion to Cerro Gallegos, perhaps the-finest overlook in the Copper Canyon. The views, and the drive, are amazing! (Even more so with a private open deck vehicle, available on request )

Note: If you wish to continue to the bottom of the Urique Canyon this can be arranged directly with the hotel.

Day 5 (Sunday): Free morning – return Express Train to El Fuerte (the best scenery a second time!)
After breakfast, at approximately 9:30, you will be transported to Bahuichivo to take the Express train to El Fuerte, enjoying the best part of the train ride a second. time.
There should be some great photo opportunities, as you will be seeing the most dramatic part of the trip in the late-morning sun.
You will again be in the Tourist-class section of the train. (Please consult us about upgrades to your train tickets).
On arrival about 3:25pm, transfer to the Hotel El Fuerte, your home away from home in the Copper Canyon.
Spend the evening enjoying the colonial town, dinner on your own in the center.

Day 6 (Monday): Departure
After breakfast - Transfer to Los Mochis airport and departure
Los Mochis airport is 2hrs away from El Fuerte - you will need to leave 3.5hrs before your flight.
